Welcome!

Well, here we are….You, me and a new blog.  I’m not quite sure where this will take us – or if you are even out there reading it – but my prayer is that it will be an encouragement to anyone who visits here.

The idea for this has been brewing for a long time, but serious planning and site creation has just been in the last few months.  The “this idea” being the heart of how important community is and all that happens around a table kept coming to my mind.

A simple table as a metaphor, might be a bit corny, but let’s face it – this is where things get started.  A shared table, where almost strangers can come together for a book club and become friends, were families do daily life and life celebrations, where simple suppers become the foundation for life long ties that go with you wherever your path leads.

So, I guess you could say, this blog is really about doing life – how we celebrate and encourage community in all its forms as we walk the road of life with those that God has placed in our life.  Learning to be real with one another , being present in our circumstances, so that we can see the goodness of God in the  ebb and flow of both happy AND hard places that make up our journey.

This little beauty is my tDSC_0116able.  Nothing really special except that it is a table of family history and once belonged to my Granny. In my lifetime it has seated many for family dinners, holiday gatherings and countless games of Skip-Bo and Rook, just to name a few. Since it’s been in my home, it continues to host  family and friends, book club brunches, women’s ministry meetings, and even some hard times of prayer wrapped in tears. I’m sure this table didn’t cost much but it is the centerpiece of where community continues to happen in my life – that makes it priceless to me.

I hope you’ll stick with me because when I think community and friendship, it almost always begins or ends at a table of sweet communion together.  So, around our community table here, we will play with recipes, read books, maybe take an adventure or two, and dig deeper into the Word so that our journey can be joyful and our friendships grow deeper.

So tell me about your table – what is it that makes it special to you?
